Leon Volny

President

Leon is an incoming senior at Berlin British School where he is working towards completing the IB Diploma. At the BBS, he is the founder of economics club, cofounder of chess club, and a journalist for the school’s magazine. He intends to pursue a career in economics by continuing his education at an American University. In his free time, Leon likes to play tennis and chess.

Hannah Nägeli

Vice President

Hannah Nägli, Senior at Berlin International School (graduating in 2023); I am really passionate about politics and diplomacy and as a member of a German political party (joined the youth group at the age of 12 and the real party at 16), I was invited to join the board last year (youngest member). I am also engaging in my community, being a youth leader or “Teamer” in my local church. And I won a scholarship for a summer programme at Glion hospitality school. 

Nicholas Torabi

Chief Technology Officer

Nicholas is currently enrolled in the online A level program after finishing his IGCSE’S at Berlin Metropolitan School. Alongside A levels, he is completing internships to gain insight into various industries to better deduce what he will pursue career wise in the future. Currently, he hopes to study economics and in support of that dream, he is now part of JEC Berlin. He’s also very passionate regarding MUN and has worked as an officer of delegate affairs, while currently serving as the Director of Public Relations at the German MUN society. Additionally he volunteers for the NGO “Women n Leadership”, which aims to bridge the urban-rural divide in opportunity and accessibility. In his free time, he enjoys investing as well as reading.

Hugo Salus

Chief Marketing Officer

Hugo is a Junior at Berlin International School where he is completing the IB Diploma Programme. He is particularly interested in biology and plans on studying neuroscience at college. Hugo’s interests in economics, entrepreneurship, and finance were inspired when he first took business classes in ninth grade. He hopes to combine his passions in biology and economics in the future and expand his knowledge in the latter through JEC Berlin. Hugo also competes for the U17 German fencing team and participates in fencing tournaments all around the globe. In addition, Hugo is chief editor of the school newspaper and a writer for an online blog called Mind-Design Sports, where he posts articles combining his enthusiasm for sports and neuroscience. In 2021, Hugo competed in the Neuroscience Olympiad and qualified for the German national finals. Reflecting his interest in neuroscience, Hugo is chief technical and marketing officer for the educational social media account “Blue Dendrite”. 

Victor Blanc

Community Outreach Officer

Victor Blanc is a grade 11 student at Berlin Metropolitan School in Berlin, Germany. Victor is particularly interested in international relations and current global challenges, and as a result, he is very involved in the MUN community, having founded his own MUN organization, having served on multiple secretariats, and having attended over ten conferences. Victor is also passionate about business, finance and entrepreneurship. Victor volunteered in the international NGo “Woman n Leadership” which aims to provide opportunities for girls in those areas in developing nations. Victor feels passionate about providing education on these topics as early as possible and has therefore joined the board of JEC Berlin. 

Harshul Arora

Chief Financial Officer

Harshul is a senior at Berlin International School, where he plans to complete the IB Diploma Programme. After that, he intends to seek a profession as an Investment Banker. He has a keen interest in finance, economics and day trading. Furthermore, he plays badminton multiple times a week, represents a club, and partakes in various badminton tournaments where he has represented Berlin & Brandenburg at State Championships. Harshul is also part of the Math Club and leads the school badminton team. In addition, Harshul has also taken part in multiple Business related courses from renowned universities and has consistently placed on the High Honour Roll during all secondary school years. He also guides science and math students from younger grades to help them achieve their desired results in these subjects. 

Aysha Duncan

Director of Strategic Initiatives

Aysha, Director of Strategic Initiatives, is a junior at Berlin International School, where she will work towards completing the IB program for the next two years. She plans to pursue a career in either law or medicine, yet has a newfound fascination with economics, joining JEC Berlin in an effort to widen her knowledge about the influence the social science has on society. In 2019, she scored in the top 20th percentile of an essay writing competition, receiving a scholarship to Cambridge Summer School for her essay exploring the modern relevance of the Hippocratic Oath for those entering the medical profession. Her favourite pastimes include playing video games as well as badminton, solving 1000+ piece jigsaw puzzles, and creative writing.
